Winter Newsletter 2023

Dear Fergusson Home Families

We hope this newsletter finds you well and that you are keeping yourselves warm as winter approaches. As always, we have some important updates and reminders to share with you about life at Fergusson Home.

STAFF UPDATES

We are pleased to tell you that our two Registered Nurses, Ranjit Kaur and Kulwinder Kaur, have recently accepted the positions of Clinical Nurse Managers. Ranjit and Kulwinder have both worked at Fergusson Home in the role of Registered Nurses since 2022 and are dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our residents.

We are also pleased to announce that Ian Juggins has recently come on board as our Maintenance Person. With past experience in maintaining rest homes, Ian is an important member of our team. If you see him around the facility, please feel free to say ‘hi’ to Ian and introduce yourselves.

WINTER ACTIVITIES

Our Activities Co-Ordinator has planned a range of programmes over the winter months to provide opportunities for socialisation and to keep spirits high.

Some of the activities include:

  • Daily Exercises that cater to different levels of ability.

  • Mentally stimulating group sessions including quizzes, housie and reminiscing.

  • Singing, music request sessions and entertainment

  • Weekly Church Services.

  • Scenic drives when the weather plays nicely.

We always value your input and strive to create a fulfilling environment for our residents.

So please let us know if there are any specific activities or events that you would like us to consider.

COVID PRECAUTIONS

In light of the ongoing pandemic, we want to assure you that we are taking all necessary precautions to protect the health and safety of our residents.

As you may be aware, we recently had a small number of positive cases and consequently Fergusson Home was in lockdown.

Our dedicated staff worked extremely hard over the last few weeks and managed to contain this recent outbreak exceptionally well.

It is wonderful that all those residents have recovered and we are pleased to announce that we are open again to visitors.

May we also remind you that wearing masks during your visit continues to be mandatory.

FAMILY VISITS

We understand the importance of family connections, and we strive to facilitate meaningful visits while ensuring everyone’s safety.

Please note that visitor restrictions or guidelines may be in place depending on COVID precautions.

We will keep you updated on any changes to our visitation policies.

CONTACT INFO

Should you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. You can contact our administration office (reception@fergussonhome.co.nz) or myself (Lou@fergussonhome.co.nz) and we will be happy to assist you in any way we can.

Warm Regards
