Summer Newsletter 2023

Dear Residents, Families and Friends

As we prepare to celebrate the festive season here at Fergusson Home, we wanted to take a moment to extend our warmest Christmas wishes to all of you. As another year draws to an end, we want to express our deepest gratitude to each of you for being a part of our extended family. Your presence has contributed greatly to the atmosphere at Fergusson Home.

STAFF UPDATES

We welcome Amber Matthews to Fergusson Home. She started as working as our receptionist in early November.  Amber comes to us with a background in administration and finance. If you haven’t met Amber yet, pop in and say hello 😊.

Sadly, we said goodbye to Niki Deol in November. After working at Fergusson since 2009, she has decided to move to other employment.

VILLAGE RESIDENTS

Our Village unit holders went to Eastwood café for an early Christmas lunch on 30 November, along with Amber (our new Receptionist) and Christine (Operations’ Manager). Reports were positive and we look forward to welcoming the unit holders back into Fergusson Home, where possible in 2024.

ACTIVITIES

We’ve had two great outings, one to the Buried Village and the other to Eastwood Café.  These are very popular with the residents, we will be offering them on a rotational basis.

We were also lucky to have a visit from a horse (William) and his trainer (Tylah). The residents enjoyed interacting with William.

CHRISTMAS

This Christmas, we have an array of festivities planned. We made our Christmas cake three weeks ago and are dousing it with Sherry once a week! We will cut it and share with everyone on the 22nd.

We have the Salvation Army Band visiting on the 17th at 2pm to play Christmas Carols and Christmas church services have been held throughout the month.

COVID PRECAUTIONS

Following Te Whatu Ora’s guidelines, released in early November, staff and visitors are not required to wear masks. If there is a change in the COVID situation (i.e. a large surge of cases in the community, or one or more of our residents becoming infected) mask wearing could be re-instated.

REMINDERS

We are currently planning for the lunch for residents on Christmas Day. It would be much appreciated if you can confirm whether you will be joining us for a meal, or if you have plans to take a resident out.  Understanding your intentions will help us organise the day in the best possible way for everyone.  Please let us know by 18th December by emailing us at reception@fergussonhome.co.nz

CONTACT INFO

Should you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. You can contact our administration office: reception@fergussonhome.co.nz or myself: Lou@fergussonhome.co.nz and we will be happy to assist you in any way we can.
